Mangoes are procured from farmers in bulk quantity. Processed Benisha (Banginapalli) Mango cost Rs.180 to Rs.220 per Kg at Unit level.

Sorting and Grading
- Mangoes will be placed on the conveyor belt for the sorting and grading.
- Mangoes with black dots and damaged ones will be removed while sorting by the workers.
- Mangoes will have Hot water treatment which cleans the surface.
- Most of the time, 40 to 50% of the stock will be removed while sorting and grading.
- Mangoes with black dots, not in good shape will be removed.
- These Mangoes will be sold at the Vendors and are available for the public.
Vaporization Chambers
Qualified mangoes will be placed in the vaporization Chambers so that it kills any growing bugs inside the mango.
Ripening Process
After vaporization, the mangoes will be placed in the chamber for artificial ripening.
The ethylene gas will be sprayed in the chamber and the doors will be tightly closed for artificial ripening. The room temperature is maintained for quick ripening. The government has recommended the usage of Ethylene gas at permitted levels. These fruits are exported to Newzealand, Europe countries, Australia etc.
Cargo charges will be around Rs.540 to Rs.560 per Kg. Rs.180 + Rs.540 + Seller Profit will be the actual price.
Any fruit which comes to market early will be ripened by artificial methods such as Calcium carbide (which is banned) or Ethylene Gas or Ethylene Sachets. Artificial ripening will not bring sweetness to the fruit.
Disadvantages for Mangoes Artificial Ethylene Ripening
- Though the fruit looks colourful and attractive the sweetness will not be there as they are tender mangoes.
